DiRECWAY 4000 (No longer available) History: This 2-Way Broadband satellite internet connection was the first two way technology in Canada back in October of 2000. However, its USB connection and gateway hosting requirement made it difficult and expensive to operate a LAN or network. This model has been dis-continued for sale and support is extended until July 2006 for this product. A upgrade program has been initiated to migrate current DW4000 satellite customers to the current DW7000 high speed satellite platform.
DiRECWAY DW6000 (No longer available) History: To get connected all you need is a satellite dish (typically a 0.74m or 0.98m dish) installed at your home or office so it faces the southern sky. Two coaxial lines connect your dish to a "satellite modem". This modem is directly connected to your PC or LAN. No phone lines are needed for the initial set-up. A upgrade program has been initiated to migrate current DW6000 satellite customers to the current DW7000 satellite platform.
HughesNet HN7000
The two way satellite system is installed by Certified installers from High Speed Ontario. Unlike the old Bell ExpresVu one-way Internet via satellite, the 2-Way highspeed broadband internet satellite offers download and upload capabilities straight from the dish. This means that no phone lines are required to surf the net, Just point and click and send important files and emails to friends, customers and suppliers with your always on connection.
Equipment Details
The DIRECWAY DW7000 HughesNet HN7000 system consist of a oval satellite antenna, matching integrated outdoor electronics, and the indoor unit modem.
Indoor Equipment
The indoor equipment consists of one RJ45/LAN connection satellite modem: Included with the modem is a power supply, RJ45 Connection cable, and coaxial cable.
HughesNet Indoor Equipment:
The modem is a DVB compliant satellite adapter that can be used alone, in the two-way operation.
The HughesNet modem is designed to be esentially "always on". This means you never have to wait for your PC to connect, or worry about ISP busy signals.
Outdoor Equipment
The HughesNet antenna is equipped with the following: A single LNB to receive DIRECWAY data from the satellite. A radio unit to transmit DIRECWAY data to the satellite.
In addition each DIRECWAY system (0.74m dish only) can be optionally equipped with an additional dual shielded - LNB to receive DIRECTV using the same antenna (outside of Canada). This configuration is sometimes refered to as the DirecDUO. The outdoor equipment is connected by two RG-6 coaxial cables to the indoor equipment.
